Cagnes-sur-Mer, like the Roman god Janus, has two faces. Perched on a hill in the “hinterlands” of Nice, Le Haut-de-Cagnes is a charming, historic village that has inspired many to creativity — from Simone de Beauvoir, who wrote “Les Mandarins” here, to Renoir, whose last home in this town has been turned into an art museum.

Stop 2

This historic, walled town has preserved its medieval squares and streets. Known as the “City of Art”, Vence is a lovely town sitting in the fresh air of the hills only a few kilometers from Nice and Antibes. The town is full of flowers and, in the area around the town, aromatic flowers, olives and colorful orange trees are cultivated.
Don’t miss the chapel of Matisse (Chapelle du Rosaire), considered his masterpiece in 1951!

Stop 3

Perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by superb landscapes where prickly pears grow naturally, the village of Tourrettes sur Loup seems to conquer all beneath it with its tall houses built along its ramparts. Stroll in the narrow streets of the ‘City of the violets’ to see the tiny fashioned shops with original artists and craftsmen productions.

Stop 4

Gourdon sits on the edge of a rocky spur above the Loup River. You will have the chance to discover the local arts and crafts : stained glass, silk painting, perfumes, soaps, honey, nougat, traditional breads… Then, you will be taken to one of the small squares or ancient houses with their carved doorways.

Stop 5

The landscapes of this medieval town are exceptional, surrounded by the Valmasque forest, Mougins is a popular village very visited during the summer. Between the picturesque and the charming, its architecture is fully restored and the whole environment attracted many celebrities such as Picasso, Cocteau, Christian Dior, etc…
